After
the establishment of Pravara Public School and Pravara Kanya
Vidya Mandir, providing higher education to the students
of the area became the need of the hour. Padmashri Vikhe
Patil College of Arts,Science & Commerce was established
in 1971. The initial strength of 110 students and 8 staff
has now gone up to 4071 students and 298 teaching staff,
bears testimony to the phenominal growth of this fullfledged
college. The college has Arts, Science and Commerce faculties
and offers instruction from plus two to post graduate levels.
Due recognition of this feat was acknowledged by the University
Grants Commission which bestowed on it the status of"
Lead College" of Ahmednagar District.
The post
graduate courses offered by this college include M.A. M.Com
and M.Sc. in almost all the disciplines. The post graduate
departments of Botany and Chemistry have been recognised
as Research Centres by the University of Pune.

SCHOOLS & JUNIOR COLLEGES
In
addition to the above mentioned institutions, the PRES runs
a number of high schools, Junior colleges in the 44 villages
in Pravara and its adjoining area. Door-to-door and hut-to-hut
campaigns are undertaken to motivate and create an awareness
about the need for primary, elementary and higher education
especially among the illiterate labourers and farmers, Scholarships,
economic assistance from Earn and Learn Scheme, free uniforms,
free text books and other educational kits are offered to
the really needy and deserving students as an additional
incentive evoking encouraging response. Special attention
is also being paid to school dropouts in bringing them back
to the mainstream. The English Medium School for Girls,
Loni came into its independent existence in the year 1996
and caters to the girls education through English medium
from pre-primary to secondary classes. |
